We are excited to announce that on March 9, 2017 we will welcome former Major League Baseball player Darryl Strawberry to speak at Northside United Methodist Church! All proceeds from this fundraising banquet will benefit JACOA!
Strawberry was a star for the New York Mets in the 1980s and a popular part-timer with the Yankees in the ’90s. His career was derailed by substance-abuse problems that led to a prison sentence, but he found new life afterward as an instructor, a philanthropist, and the owner of The Darryl Strawberry Treatment Program in Orlando, FL.
“The Darryl Strawberry Treatment Program is a 28-day residential christian counseling program designed to treat addictions and all forms of substance abuse including prescription medications in Orlando. The program provides medical detoxification followed by primary treatment, including a 1-year continuing care plan, designed specifically around the needs of each client,” as stated on their website.
